I’m not a person who shaves, but I’ve always been fascinated at women’s ideas about shaving, and why they do it?
I’d love it if you did an essay connecting the hairlessness beauty standard to issues of class, race, and sexual identity. Do lesbians go through this emotional issue about hairlessness? What about transgender women? How do Black women, especially ones with dark skin, where you cannot see their body hair most of the time, feel the same way? And what about elderly women? Is there a point in life where a woman just ages out of caring about whether or not her legs are shaved? Do poor women care about this issue, and how does one budget that into an existence where money is of deep concern, (because remaining hairless isn’t a cheap endeavor)?
