I’m afraid y’all are gonna have to learn the same lesson Black people (Black women in particular ) have learned, and I’m so sorry!) We learned it and we've long ago gave up on:
Those fat, comfortable, middle class, suburban white people, who are more worried about their 401ks, than people's lives. They are not reliable. They are not going to be there for you. They're not good allies. They crumble at the slightest pushback, panic, act like cowards, and have no stomach, endurance, or stamina for rebellion or even basic confrontation.
When they get pushed, they fall back, run home, give in, capitulate to whatever demands are made of them, and they will continue to keep falling back and falling in line. I know y'all were hoping such people would step up, but they have a long history of being there for no one but themselves. They're not even there for each other.
MLK's white moderates never had our backs either. We gave up on them for good now, and yes, I mean those cisgender straight white women, who know all the right words to say to the marginalized when they want something, and yet, don't do any actual activism. They will never have your backs either. Do not rely on them. They will not be there for you. Stop asking. They'll just lie.
Since there are a lot of Black people the Queer community we got each others backs.
(And to the 47% of white women who kept their word.
I'm not talking about y'all. We more or less cool, but I can only speak for me on that. )
