I would agree but narrow it down even further. I’d say the crux is that of white men giving each other a pass to be their worst possible selves. When white men behave badly there’s always ALWAYS at least a handful of white men waiting to come up with an excuse for why they did so. It’s the reason Dahmer could get away with what he did, why trump still has followers (mostly white and male) and also explains so much of their projection onto other groups of men for crimes they regularly commit, and how they do not give a pass to any other group of people (especially black men) who get caught in the wrong.
