I wholeheartedly agree.

Despite his use of the word “intellectual”, I very much doubt that he reasoned himself into that opinion, so of course, he can never be reasoned out of it, and certainly not by any group of people against whom he holds such a strong resentment.

But I do try to keep in mind that they are still human beings. Yes, he’s working very hard to bury his humanity pretty deep under the ground, but he’s still human. I do this to remind myself that people like him don’t see human beings on the other end of the keyboard, and I don’t believe in insulting animals, by referring to those kinds of people as such. Animals actually have my respect, and such gormless cowards don’t.

I operate by the idea that if it’s not something I would ever say to a person’s face, while looking them in the eye, with full conviction behind my sentiments, then I will never say it online, (I have no problem going off to someone’s face when they’ve done wrong.) I guess that’s not a rule some people follow, though, and it took me a really long while to understand that.

Trollimg is a human act, the act of a coward, sure, but it’s someone who knows they will never have to look the other person in the eye, while kicking them. That’s how I know they’re still people. They could never look a woman in her eyes, and say the things they’ve said. They have to do at a remove and anonymously, which. to me, means they can still feel shame, fear, and guilt.
