I totally resonated with your story!

As a Black woman, that I was ugly was a tale I told myself until well into my thirties, because that was what the rest of the world taught me. American culture taught me that women who looked like me were ugly and worthless. I was in my thirties before I figured out that the world hated ALL women, not just me, and that I was being told a lie. I knew I was valued and loved by my family! I was worth a lot to them, and more importantly, worth a lot to myself.

As are we all.
