It is very odd isnt it to be an American and have someone think of you as "exotic" in certain times and places? I grew up in Cleveland so I've rarely experienced it but have gotten small touches of it just by being a Black woman in spaces where others didn't expect to encounter me (like art school or my first ComicCon back in the early 90s!) I never knew what to do with my anger either.
