I like to take note not just of how many women are in the story or what they're talking about but how they interact with each other. Too many times I've seen stories written by male writers where none of the female characters don't interact at all (often not even seeing or even meeting each other) but where their interactions are unnecessarily negative.

For example, in the Bladerunner sequel there are multiple women (at least 3) in the cast and every single one of their relationships is negative. (There were three women in the first movie who never spoke to or even saw one another.)

I make note of whether or not marginalized characters of any race or gender interact at all and what those interactions are like. Do they even acknowledge one another's existence? Do they have any kind of positive interaction? Since most movies are written by straight white men characters that aren't them often get short shrift in the story.
