I keep telling people this. They have no idea how difficult it is to not only never be thought of as being IN any of the stories that get told in Hollywood, but you're not even considered a member of the audience for a story!

It is only in the last seven or eight years that Black women have been thought of not just as actresses, but as audience members who spend money on movies, watch TV shows, and have opinions about any of it.
