I have observed that it is very very easy for people to be emotionally objective and centrist when they are not ever going to be one of the people who is on the receiving end of the eradication proposals of the other side!

When you are one of the marginalized people the other side wishes to eradicate the existence of, you end up picking the side that ensures your own survival! That's not "divisive", a word I'm seriously beginning to hate the use of.

I'm not a Democrat because I love Biden, Harris, and the Democrats, or because I hate Republicans (although, I've never liked their proposals, policies, and attitudes). I'm a Democrat because the Democrats have not shown any interest in locking up me and my loved ones in concentration camps, reinstituting enslavement, or just outright killing us.

I'm not picking a side because I'm a malignant narcissist who wants power. I'm picking a side because I am terrified of the other (and so might they be, but their fears are entirely imaginary, while mine are very real.)
