I used to wonder why these futures were always shown that way when humanity has lived without electricity for far longer than we have with it, but the moment the electrical grid goes down people in movies immediately start killing and eating each other and these depictions are always shown as if they are a statement on the human condition, when really its just the life philosophy of white, western, straight, middle-class men.
