I have absolutely zero (and I do mean 0) patience with that kind of thinking. Let people like what they're going to like and just leave them alone. My nephew is twelve years old and is a total Wolverine, Deadpool, Spiderman fan. has not read a single comic book about any of these characters. He got most of his information from online sources like Youtube, and watching the movies.
I am fifty years old and have read ALL the comics, and know all the lore, because I was around when much of the lore was written. I do not expect him to know any of this stuff (although he does) because he has only been on the planet for 12 years and he's been kinda busy. Nevertheless the two of us have bonded over our love of the MCU. I have asked him if he's interested in the comic books and he says no, but if he should ever become interested Imma be right there with a book in hand!
At the most, I will tell someone "Well, based on what you've told me about your tastes, if you liked...whatever it is, then you might like this too!" People's tastes are their tastes.
