I get that you’re going for slasher films, but I’d like to throw in Jada Pickett Smith in Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight, Serena from 28 Days Later, and Sanaa Lathan from Alien vs Predator! Three total badasses, who manage to survive to the end of the movie, while saving the world from the monsters.

When my mom and I went to see the new Halloween film, there were a number of black characters, just sort wandering in the background. Let me tell you, I spent that entire time on pins and needles, wondering when one of them would be brutally murdered by Michael Myers, and I was pleasantly surprised when none of them did! (My Mum cheered when the little black kid managed to escape Michael, because his white babysitter sacrificed her life, to save him! 🤔)
