I feel like this entire situation stems from their inability to articulate their feelings about what their girlfriend and woves were doing. A mature adult doesn't make it it about controlling the person and the conversation would've been better served offline, and by saying how the women's actions made them feel. Being honest about their feelings and saying it but too many people don't know how to do that, and resort to finger wagging instead.

They could have had adult conversation that went: "I don't like it when you do this, this, or this. It makes me feel like..." which is a much more productive conversation than saying :"Stop doing that."
