I definitely believe that. It looks like the perfect intersection of homophobia and racism. There are a lot of people who don't consider themselves to be bigots, but when given the opportunity, they are often overly punitive to Black people who transgress boundaries, or make mistakes. Its a lot easier to disguise their racism behind ideas of justice.
