I cannot help but compare this to racism, since it's very much the exact same dynamic as racism. A group of people (Black in this case) who are believed to be subordinate to the dominant group, and who are not allowed to sully the self image of members of the dominant group, by voicing any distrust of that group.

Women aren't allowed to say we can't trust some men, and can't tell the difference, so we'll hedge our bets with all of you, which sounds just like Black people protecting themselves from white people, getting chastised with the phrase "Not all white people".

The full irony: The same white women who seemed to perfectly understand and could clearly spell out the Bear vs. Man analogy, failed to see the same dynamic (when pointed out by Black women) of the White Woman Vs Man scenario. Black women chose the man in that scenario, and white women became incensed!
