I can genuinely say I liked the movie but with (caveats?) I didn't get bored because the movie was compelling to me but I'm not sure why (the novelty of its existence maybe?)

I loved the visuals but the story itself was predictable and derivative. I was there for the visuals so I don't mind that. The story needed more depth and complexity.

I think you're right though. The real meat of the story will be in the second half in May.
