I came to this realization a little while ago when I realized that if I’d been a teenage girl, at the time of the Twilight franchise books and movies, I would have totally devoured them. From there, I started to really notice all the things you mentioned here, about how we mock and vilify teenage girls for everything from Ugg boots, and IG selfies, to romance novels, and pumpkin spice lattes.

I have a fourteen year old niece. I’m dedicating myself to uplifting her,and all her interests, no matter what they are, from this day forward. If she cares about it, so will I. At least that way, I can sort of make up for the years I wasted hating other women’s interests, just because I didn’t share them.
