I agree with you here, but the problem, no matter how correct you are ( I found the story less than compelling too) is that you sound like just another white guy on the internet hating a film with diversity. There are far too many white men on the online with bad hot takes on movies featuring women and poc, to listen to you or take you too seriously.

Don’t get me wrong. I loved everything about this movie, and it had some great moments, but the plot was boring as heck. I simply didn’t care about it. I know it had far reaching consequences, but mostly it was forgettable.

See, I can say that and get away with it, but when you do it (as unfair as it might seem to you) it just sounds to poc fans like yet another white male critic hating on “ wokeness and diversity". I know the situation is far more nuanced, but even I’ve come across a lot of disturbing and racist trends in movie fandom perpetuated by white male critics. I love your writing and believe your sincerity, but other poc might have an issue with it because of the bad faith arguments of too many white critics on the internet.
