He is just like all those other successful black men in the US who make the mistake of believing that simply because they have money, status, or class privilege, that they no longer suffer from racism or that the institutionalized white supremacy is unimportant.
They believe that because they're successfully contributing to the status quo, that their money and respectability will protect them from a system that was built to demean Black people who don't have their status/money. Anyone with their eyes open can see that racism can take a black man (or child) out of circulation before they can even get a foot in the door to become successful, and these men think that simply because they bucked the odds (or were allowed to because they supported the system) and have amassed a little bit of money, that the system of white supremacy doesn't exist.
