Exactly! We know what's coming and tried to warn people as we always do. They chose differently, as they always do. They chose to harm other groups of people in the hope they'd make a buck. All we can do is take care of ourselves and minimize their harm as much as possible.
I'm not specially worried, even though tragedy can strike anywhere. I live in a kind of Blue bubble in Ohio that's 60% Black. I work in a library with a bunch of liberal white people who are encouraged to mind their business, and we have a union. I just got a raise. My bills are paid. I'm retiring in two years. I think I'll be okay. I'm using my energy and emotions to help other Black people right now. Imma speak out about the issues I care about as I usually do but my efforts are going to those most vulnerable.
I've seen some people questioning whether or not Black women can really sit this one out. That person obviously doesn't know any Black women in person or something. We have plenty of things to occupy our time that doesn't have anything to do with helping white people fix a problem they caused.
