Exactly! This same analogy can be used with people with disabilities. I don't have a disability beyond eyeglasses, so I go through my whole day never worrying about any of the things that someone who is deaf, in a wheelchair, or with a prosthetic arm ever has to worry about, and it never occurs to me to worry about how Im going ot get into a building that has no ramp, or whether or not I can open a door.

People almost NEVER see behavior (especially if its negative) that isnt directly aimed at them on a daily basis, and sometimes the discriminatory behavior is so subtle that I can waste hours wondering if it actually happened and thinking it did because I felt so uncomfortable at the time. You have to train yourself to see it. You have to be taught what it looks like (by those who go through it) when you don't experience it.
