Even in the Black community, knowledge has it’s detractors, as those who seek to do better, or are simply curious about the rest of the world, get mocked by their less successful peers, for wanting to be “ like white people". The motivation is different but it looks the same.
Plenty of Black children know what it’s like to be bullied for not conforming to some random Black person’s idea of what Blackness entails.
There are large parts of the community that champion educational success, but there are also plenty who disdain it. This anti-intellectualism crosses all communities, it seems.
