Don’t beat yourself up too much. All you can do, if you choose to do this self-work, is attempt to weed out as much of the bigotry in your life as possible, and really, being immersed in White Western culture, that kind of thing is so insidious, that you can spend an entire lifetime discovering brand new awful things you were taught to believe. I’m running up on fifty and still discovering new awful things.

Being anti-racist is a lifetime endeavor. Like atonement, it’s not something anyone can ever finish. The best you can do is do your best.
