BP was their response to years of being chastized for their racist casting of poc as sidekicks to white characters.

We were asking for a Black Widow movie for years and what did the PTB decide to give us instead? Ant Man! A character nobody was even thinking about wanting.

Oh, and don’t forget that up til Ultron, no women of color were showcased in these movies except Dr. Cho, who was promptly killed when they were done with her. For years, I was pretty sure that the MCU just straight hated Asian people, what with their treatment in some the shows, and in the movies.

And they have continued this problem by sidelining Monica Rambeau as Capt. Marvel, by making her a child who idolizes Carol. In the books Monica , a Black woman , was the first human CM.

I too wonder what the MCU would be like if the PTB had started this franchise in good faith with women and poc as the stars. They’re making efforts now to fix this with CM and greenlighting the Shang Chi film, and there’s s BP sequel coming, but why make us feel like the redheaded, unimportant stepchildren by making us all wait so long for representation?

What I want is greater representation of other groups. I want that Latine Ghost Rider, and Kamala Khan, and Miles Morales. (And a Domino movie wouldn’t hurt either.)

I’m gettin' up there. Will I have to wait another ten to fifteen years?

The problem is that all the people making these decisions are white men who gave priority to what they believed was important. Other white men!
