Because there are a lot of white people who harbor an exceptionally deep well of insecurity and various neuroses! And they really think you can’t see that. In fact, the higher up the socio-economic ladder they are the worst their paranoia, (although the ones at the bottom of the ladder would very happily pull it out from under you, too).


Dealing with white people’s feelings of mediocrity is so exhausting. I encountered this a few times at college, and when some people find out I’ve been to art school.
