Because the media loves creating "engagement", which keeps butts in seats, scrolling, typing, and puttering away, choosing a side in a dispute that has absolutely nothing at all to do with our daily life.

I have decided to opt out of celebrity disputes entirely, because I've never in my life given a single second of thought to Blake Lively, and I have no idea whatsoever who the the guy is that she's fighting with. I didn't even know they made a movie.

Especially once I realized I was being manipulated by the media into having a negative opinion of Blake Lively (a woman I have never met, will never meet, and cared so little about I didn't even know what movie she was repping) shoved down my throat by the media. I was essentially being manipulated to care and be outraged about a person and a situation that will never impact my life in the slightest.
