Because despite their cries of individualism, they expect us to decry bad behavior because (on the sly) it's what they don't do. They expect us to shame bad behavior among our own exactly because on some level (whether conscious or unconscious, idk) they are always ready (like all narcissists, btw) to excuse the shitty behavior of white men, and think that's what we will do if we are not constantly chastised to do the opposite.

Whiteness (and I am aware that white people and whiteness are not the same thing) is really just a collective form of malignant narcissism, and you have only to look to the behavior traits of Donald Trump to see every single facet of it, since he is the epitome of both. There are white people who decry his behavior and rebuke him and are embarrassed by him because they do not ascribe to "whiteness", and have a healthy sense of group shame.
