As a couple of Youtubers always state: if they're going to do a remake then pick a film that did badly at the box office. Just pick an awful film, and upgrade it to be better than the original. Don't remake a movie that was near perfect. Improving on an already good film is rare. (I can only think of two: The Blob, and The Thing.)
