And what is incredible about the movie is that all of the loss in the movie, represents different types of love, — platonic, unrequited, romantic, sacrificial, possessive, familial. The loss of all those types of love are the reason the Village exists, and each type of love is illustrated in the movie in the characters relationships.
I love this movie, and I still have tremendous respect for the director, especially after Unbreakable, and Glass! I still think he’s one of the most original and phenomenal filmmakers out there.
I think I’m starting to get a good feel, for the types of movies he’s best at, and his messages. Signs was also about parental love, loss of faith, and family trauma, against the backdrop of an alien invasion, and has become one of my favorite movies, so I’m really looking forward to watching his newest film, Old, and seeing what he wants to tell us there.
