And this is the reason it's impossible for poc to trust white people with our safety. This near pathological need to insist that the world is fair, just, and that there can't possibly be people in it who advocate harm to others based solely on skin color,results in white prioritization and giving all white people the benefit of the doubt even when they're obviously in the wrong.
I've also observed this in other power dynamics as well. Those with the most privilege get the benefit of the doubt.
