And this is something that is applied EVERYWHERE! From school districts, to neighborhoods, to movies! If the majority of an area, school or even a form of an entertainment are white then the assumption is that the quality is better. In fact, blackness has pretty much become associated with lesser quality to the extent that whenever Black people show up in anything the quality of that thing gets questioned.

If a school or neighborhood is all white it’s automatically assumed to be a good place to live, while places that are more diverse, or has a majority of Black people are assumed to be worth less, crime ridden, or “sketchy”, which plays out in issues like redlining, house worth, school choice, and housing discrimination.

Blackness has become so associated with being worth less, or having lesser quality, that questions of quality show up in everything.
