And this is how you know the film was written by white men for a white male audience! Washington's character has nothing to say during the film not even to Jackson's character. She's the prize. Chris is the perpetual victim of Black men questioning his privilege. The movie is not having even a remotely progressive discussion about racial dynamics.
The writers are completely unaware that most Black conversation have moved so far beyond the conversation being had in this movie about interracial marriages that it isn't even relatable to Black audiences. This is very much a 90s conversation, some white writers idea of what Black men are angry about.
