And this has, as a side effect, contributed to the idea that PoC didn’t exist in those environments at all. So much so, that when PoC do show up in these narratives, people decry their inclusion on the grounds of “historical accuracy”. (We won’t talk about how one does not go to tv shows and movies for that, anyway.)

What I wouldn’t give to see a drama set in Victorian Limehouse England, or about Black bareknuckle boxers. There are so many dramatically rich stories to be told about PoC, everywhere in Europe, and no one seems to want to produce them!
