And the majority of this kind of Malthusian thinking is engaged in by white men, the ones who have traditionally been in enough power to actually cause these issues. It is primarily white men who run the industry in which such stories are prevalent, and who write these stories about the end of the world, so what we are really seeing are their fears and sins writ large, and passed on to everyone else.

Such thinkers rarely consider that there are millions of human beings (mostly Indigenous people) who live on this planet harmoniously, and have tried to do so for millennia. They don't consider that there might actually be innocents in this conversation, and like to promote the idea that humanity is a virus that needs to be destroyed. I don't think it need be said that I, and most PoC, vehemently disagree with this viewpoint.
