And sadly, we don’t actually need a huge Right Wing conspiracy to have this keep happening over and over. There’s a certain contingent of White people who hear Black people being outraged about some thing, any thing, and feel a resentful urge to do more of it, just to spite us. They do it because they know it upsets us.

And cruelty is the point!

I’m reminded of something that happened a few years ago, involving nooses being hung from a tree, at a high school. After that event, there were multiple stories about nooses everywhere. It was as if a certain number of White bullies, having heard Black people hated that imagery, decided to double down, and make us hurt some more.

There’s always a certain class of people whose sole reason for being is making other people feel angry, depressed, and frightened, and kicking people who are already feeling hurt.

These are the same people who are constantly yelling “TRIGGERED!!!” after purposefully saying something stupidly insensitive on the internet.

For some people, cruelty is its own reward.
