And sadly, a lot of WoC wear makeup in order to be treated like women! In order to be considered feminine, at all! WoC, especially Black women, are so often deliberately misgendered, or masculinized, that they sometimes have to “over-perform” femininity, to be treated with basic human decency, (and sometimes even that doesn’t work), witness what happened with Michelle Obama, with white people calling into question her femininity, because that’s traditionally how racists insult Black women.
