the people… was going. It was hard to not see Tyler Perry a few years later and think of Spike Lee’s warnings. Lee himself called Perry’s characters like Mr. Brown and Madea coonery and buffoonery. Perry isn’t blind to the criticism and says he is making what he knows. These are the people he saw growing up.
