And I'm pretty sure many of these men got these ideas reinforced from several decades of popular entertainment that has taught them that a man's wants, needs, and desires take precedence over anything a woman might want. Her boundaries, what she says, and what she does, should all be ignored in favor of negotiation, and violent negotiation if necessary.
And not just men, women too have seen a glut of this type of imagery for several generations now. We've all been carefully taught to disregard anything a woman says about her body, or what she actually wants.
We've all seen plenty of movies in which a man grabs, and kisses, or fondles a woman, while she puts up token resistance, only to eventually succumb to "his charms". We've all (men and women) watched decades of cutesy films in which men engage in public embarrassment, to win the love of a woman who has made it very clear she doesn't want him, only for her to change her mind after he shames her. In fact, everyone in American society has been indoctrinated with the idea tthat all women should be sexually available to any man that wants her, regardless of what she might want.
