And I very much suspect that part of the reason the Democrats have allowed their behavior to continue, with little pushback, is because they believe it benefits them. Seeing how corrupt the Republicans actually are spurs people to vote for the "lesser evil" of the Democrats. (But a lesser evil is still evil.)
