And I am absolutely none of those things. Black women and other woc never had the option of not working unless they wanted to be vilified for being welfare queens and their husbands usually didn't make enough money for a family to live on without her income. Being a tradwife is something only middle class white women can choose and I don't even know why you'd do that for a boyfriend. You don't even have a ring. He can leave anytime he wants with no obligations having gotten free labor for years.

Also I believe in having insurance. There's going to come a time when he's not there because death, desertion, and divorce, are things that happen, and a woman whose not financially independent can't do anything when those things happen, and they will happen. A lot of women from that time period got thrown into abject poverty ( with kids) when their husbands left them for whatever reason.
