Americans have always been like this. Only two things have changed, now they’re doing this to any vulnerable, middle class white people, (rather than just the marginalized), and social media gives such people a platform on which to display. Americans haven’t changed. The good are always good, but quiet, and the cruel and mean ones are always the loudest, screaming their hatred of other people into the ether. They used to have clearer targets for their wrath: gays, blacks, indigenous people, the poor…but now there just flailing wildly at anyone who ends up in the same space with them on the internet.
