A lot of men are raised to only focus on what they want, their needs and desires without consideration for what other people want or need. In fact there's a very loud contingent of men who are proud that they give no consideration to others, while many women are socialized to do nothing else. Women need to watch a man closely before diving into a relationship with him. If he gives little consideration to others he'll treat you the same in the end.

Although to be fair, like your husband, some of them can learn to behave differently if they really want to keep you!
